The group started in 1971, when the whole of Kingsdown was threatened by Bristol City Council’s plans for wholesale demolition.
Its aims were (and still are, today):
- to enhance the area of Kingsdown designated a conservation area in accordance with the proposals put forward in the 1967 Civic Amenities Act and subsequent legislation
- to encourage high standards of architecture and town planning in Kingsdown
- to stimulate public interest in, and to care for, the beauty, history and character of Kingsdown and its surroundings.
See the constitution for more details.
