Our AGM this year will be held at St Matthews Church on Wednesday 7th May. Doors will open at 6.45pm for the start of the AGM business at 7.15. After the election of officers and a review of the year and our finances there will be time for questions and refreshments, before we welcome our speaker for the evening at 8pm.
Mary Colwell is an award winning author, producer and campaigner for nature, and also a Kingsdown resident. Mary is Director of the charity Curlew Action and Chair of the Curlew Recovery Partnership. She has been a producer for the BBC Natural History Unit.
Kingsdown’s may be in the centre of a major city, but that doesn’t mean it lacks wildlife. Because Bristol has green spaces dotted around, and Kingsdown in particular has many mature gardens, there are food and nesting sites everywhere. This talk gives an overview of what birds are common all year, who visits in the spring and autumn and the migrating species that fly overhead. In particular, Mary shares our neighbourhood’s interest in swifts, seen and heard around our streets in the brief summer months.
