The Kingsdown Vaults has reopened today under new management. The pub has had a low key, sympathetic refit — the pool table has gone, there’s a bit more stripped wood, some comfier chairs and a real fire. They have a couple of real ales and what looks like a strong wine list (twenty or so). Some lovely old photos of Bristol on the walls and a few books and games.
The new landlord Nick says that they will be open from 5pm during the week and from 12pm at the weekend. For the time being they will be closed on Mondays. I also met the manager Kate, and Ben the barman. They were all very friendly and welcoming. Well worth a visit, I certainly look forward to spending a lot more time in there.
